Under the cloak of darkness, Devin and I made our way down the trail and up the hillside using the red-light setting of our headlamps, making sure the rods in our eyes are as sensitive as possible. When shooting the Milky Way, you don’t sleep. Unpacking our tripods and equipping our favorite wide-angle lenses, we worked the hillside in search of our favorite framing.

For myself, I wanted the Milky Way to pass through the arch, showcasing its delicate feature 306 feet across the span. Clicking the shutter and waiting. Moving this way. Click. Moving that way. Click. I searched for the frame I wanted. Click. I found it.
