Originally, Mavericks, in Halfmoon Bay, California, was ridden as a left by Jeff Clark. To most surfers, Mavericks is a proving ground and argued to be one of the most aesthetic waves, only paralleled by Jaws and Chopes. This cold water wave is heavy, at times scary, but undoubtedly beautiful! When I first got in the water to shoot surf, my goal was to photograph Mavericks from the water. This image was captured from atop a surfboard with a 50mm lens.
