What I Carry Instead When I Leave the Tripod Behind
When I decide against a full tripod, I don't go without any stabilization option at all. A small tabletop tripod, a bean bag that can rest on a rock or vehicle hood, or simply bracing against a stable surface handheld, cover a surprising amount of the situations that would otherwise call for full tripod support.
