Alaska's Premier Adventure Luxury Destination Stillpoint Lodge, A Photo Essay

Tucked away in Halibut Cove, Alaska is a hidden series of cabins with waterfront views belonging to a two key Michelin adventure lodge; Stillpoint Lodge. Getting there might spike your cortisol levels if you are not keen on boat rides or plane flights, but once you’re standing on your front porch staring out at the water, all your stress will fade away.

Greeted by the staff upon arrival at the docks, you’ll go for a property tour, to get a lay-of-the-land, ending at your cabin. Your first afternoon is for settling in, before the real adventures begin. Alaska isn’t on your bucket list if you don’t have an adventurous bone in your body, so Stillpoint Lodge has curated several itineraries for you, and your family, to fill your adventure appetite. Offering everything from bear viewing to glacial kayaking to salmon and halibut fishing, Stillpoint doesn’t miss a beat. If you are feeling “lazy” maybe you can talk the owner into a scenic plane flight to a secluded lake for lunch on the wing, or go for a swim in the refreshing salt water of Halibut Cove after doing some yoga. My personal favorite was jumping off the wing of the plane into the lake. Just be prepared to come up breathless, as the lake is glacially fed.

Good news for foodies, the chefs at Stillpoint Lodge knows what they are doing. Each day has three meals prepared for you at the stunning main lodge, although you’ll most likely opt in for a bagged lunch so you can play in the great Alaskan wilderness. Inspired by the seasons, the food is as fresh as it comes. The fish was most likely caught that day, the greens came from the garden, and the mushrooms were recently foraged. All of the decorative flowers and berries can be found around the property.

Do not be fooled by the adventure, or the food, for Stillpoint Lodge is full of relaxation and reconnection with what truly matters, stillness. Each morning, you’re greeted by stunning views, perfect to enjoy with a cup of coffee. And at dusk, if you look closely, you can find wildlife wandering the banks for a night-time snack. Soak in the hot tub, or splurge on the VIP suit so you can get your sweat on in the private sauna. Kick back with a drink in hand to watch birds forage, get a massage, or cheers to the good life during happy hour. If you want my two-cents, take a solo walk around the property, wander the labyrinth, and sit on the dock to watch the moon rise over Halibut Cove.
